Progenika, Derio
Progenika Biopharma, S.A., formerly Medplant Genetics, S.L., was established in April 2000 as a leading company in Functional Genomics. The activities of Progenika are focused on the identification and validation of genes and proteins as diagnostic and therapeutic tools, the development and production of new prognostic and diagnostic methods, as well as on providing PharmacoGenomic solutions to the Pharmaceutical Industry.
Progenika DNA-Genotyping Chips offer the possibility of analysing known mutations in candidate genes in large-scale genotyping projects. The experience of Progenika’s staff is illustrated by the development of Lipochip® and Bloodgen®, two projects that demonstrate the successful application of Progenika’s genotyping technology to the development of new DNA-chips. The whole procedure is completely automated and based on the most advanced technology.
The Progenika team:
Dra. Elisa Jiménez
Dra. Elisa Jiménez started at Progenika in December 2001, collaborating in the development of the Lipochip to facilitate the genetic diagnosis of the Familial Hypercholesterolemia. Since June 2003, she has participated in the Bloodgen Project, as project leader. Her main task is the development of the Bloodchip genotyping array (design of the specific genotyping oligonucleotide probes, development of the best labeling methods for the array...) and validation of the system.
Dra. Mónica López
Dra. Mónica López started at Progenika in May 2003, collaborating in the
development of the Lipochip platform to facilitate the genetic diagnosis of the
Familial Hypercholesterolemia. Since December 2004, she has participated in the
Bloodgen Project in order to substitute Dra. Elisa Jiménez during her absence.
Her main task is the improvement of the Bloodchip genotyping array (design of
the rare alleles control DNAs, improve genotyping oligonucleotide probes,
optimise the protocol..), the development of a good bloodchip logistic (trial
user guide, shipping conditions, support...) and the analysis of the results of
preliminary clinical trial from every Bloodgen partner.
Dr. Diego Tejedor
Dr. Diego Tejedor started at Progenika in July 2001. He has been in charge of the Lipochip development project and he is responsible for the Diagnosis Department at Progenika.
Dr. Antonio Martínez
Dr. Antonio Martínez is the Technical Director of Progenika and group leader of the Bloodgen Project at Progenika.
