Research for the BloodGen project is being carried out in the Bristol Genomics Research Institute (BGRI) at the University of the West of England (UWE). This research institute houses state-of-the-art equipment for post-genomics research, currently focused mainly on molecular biomedicine (part of the Centre for Research in Biomedicine) and molecular plant science (part of the Centre for Research in Plant Science).

Dr. Tracey Madgett

Tracey Madgett has been participating in the BloodGen project since October 2003, when she joined UWE from the University of Bath. Her main task for the BloodGen project has been to design and implement a multiplex PCR for the detection of nine of the ten exons of the RHD gene. By amplifying these exons, a comprehensive array of variant RHD alleles will be able to be detected on the biochip, developed by Progenika Biopharma S.A.

Kate Mooney BA (Hons)

Kate Mooney has been the BloodGen Project Administrator since the start of the project in September 03. Her duties include: organising & clerking the Project Steering Group (every 3 months) and Project Board Management (every 6 months) meetings; maintaining the project web pages and dealing with internal and external queries relating to the project.
